Ljubljana is the capital city of Slovenia with around 300,000 inhabitants it is the smallest capital city in Europe. For a thousand years this country was ruled by german speaking Austrians and more recently by Yugoslavia. Slovenia gained it's independence in 1991. Slovenia has a population of just under 2 million people. The country is predominantly Christian and is a multi party democracy. The currency is the Tolar. Slovenia's has a natural beauty, lakes and forests surrounded by mountains, which attracts tourists.
